HISTORY 

Founded in November 1985 and headquartered in North Carolina's Research Triangle, Tempest Environmental is a global leader in designing and building state-of-the-art equipment for water purification and conservation.

Dr. Roddy Tempest, a Chapel Hill entrepreneur and inventor, started the company with a line of residential water filtration products. Then, he added water purification systems for industrial and commercial clients and a mobile unit that could be deployed as part of disaster relief efforts across the world.

Thanks to Tempest Environmental's expertise, astronauts and presidents can safely drink water on the International Space Station and in the White House and the Duke Energy Center, one of the tallest buildings in downtown Charlotte, is equipped with a purification system that cleans contaminated groundwater and cools 45 floors of offices.

Tempest Environmental is also applying its expertise to work with statewide hospital and prison systems and free them of the need to stockpile bottled water for emergencies.
